What is gospel music?

Gospel music is defined as the impassioned rhythmic spiritual music rooted in the church singing of rural blacks in the American South, central to the development of rhythm and blues and of soul music.  However, gospel music takes many forms and adds freedom of expression to many great and popular tunes. Many well known celebrities have gospel music items in their repertoires.

What are we doing?

St Martin's has built a gospel choir with a mission to bring the joy of gospel music to churches and communities in and around East Dorset.  We have sung at many events and venues and have various bookings for the months ahead.

Through the beauty and exuberance of the music and the message of faith that it delivers we plan to share our joy with others enhancing the welcome that Christianity offers.

We offer the opportunity to you as singers and other musicians who are interested in gospel music to come and share your talents with a like minded group of friendly people.

The choir is conducted and accompanied by the highly talented musical duo, Daniela Ievolo and Francesco Iannuzzo.   Members of the choir have attended a workshop and sung with the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir at St James' Church Piccadilly, London
